Ratings from a match-by-match Elo walk over every scored 2026 NPSL result — backtested and calibrated (Brier 0.531 vs 0.667 uniform baseline). Cross-league placement is calibrated on roughly 600 U.S. Open Cup results.

Can a NPSL club rate above a professional club?

Yes, and some do. The scale is calibrated on Open Cup results, where amateur sides genuinely beat professional ones, so the table reflects that rather than assuming a league hierarchy.
